Why Healing Touch Before and After Surgery

When a person is about to undergo surgery, the energy system should be cleared, energized and supported. This can be accomplished with Healing Touch. This is true post surgery. You see, it is not only the physical body that is being cut but also the energetic body that surrounds the physical. Other terms for this energetic body are: the aura, biofield or energy field. It consists of at least 7 known layers : the etheric, emotional, mental, astral, etheric template, celestial and ketheric. When the surgeon cuts into the body, he/she also cuts these layers. Hence, the energy field must be addressed before surgery to prepare the physical body but also after surgery to repair the energy system. The physical and energetic go hand in hand. Research studies have been done ( you can find a link on my website: www.healingtouchoncall.com) that have concluded that patients that have received Healing Touch before and after surgery have shorter hospital stays. Why? The healing process is quickened and they are responding better with Healing Touch!

I had a client to whom I provided Healing Touch before and after her spinal surgery. When I assessed her emotional/mental state before Healing Touch her anxiety level was high . . . about a 9 on a scale of 0-10 with 10 being the highest level of pain/anxiety. After she received the treatment her anxiety level decreased tremendously.(2 out of 10) When anxiety decreases and muscles relax, endorphins are released, allowing the body's own healing to take place. A few days after her surgery I visited her at the hospital. At that time the site of the repair to her spinal cord was extremely sensitive and painful. She was taking medication for it but it did not take all of the pain away. I provided Healing Touch to her in her hospital room and then at her home several days later. Each time I provided Healing Touch her physical pain decreased as did her anxiety and worry about her recuperation. I made certain that I worked on the energy field around the site of the incision so the healing to her energy field could take place. My client was very happy with the results of Healing Touch. This energy modality complements western medicine very well. I would recommend it to all who are facing any kind of major or minor surgery.

Boost Your Immunity with Healing Touch

There's been so much publicity and discussion about the H1N1 virus and with good reason. Many of the youngest and oldest members of our society have become very ill with it and many have died. It is a force to be reckoned with. But there are many holistic and non-invasive measures we all can do to help support our immune system.
"Can Healing Touch help with that?"
"Well, I am so glad you asked. Of course!"
After interviewing the client and accessing the energy field many practitioners of Healing Touch utilize a technique called the "Lymphatic Drain." It's a technique designed to boost the immune system as well as drain any toxins or infections that may be lurking there. Pulling the energy in the opposite direction from which the immune system normally flows will give the system the boost it needs. Add that to a good balancing technique such as the Chakra Connection, the Full Body Connection or any number of effective techniques that Healing Touch offers the client will be on the road to wellness if they are ill or help keep them well. The wonderful thing about Healing Touch and energy work is that several health issues may be addressed simultaneously with intention. OR several health issues can be addressed one after the other. For example, the immune system of one of my client's was compromised. She had several infections. While providing a boost of the lymph system, I also did "site" work near the left ear and ended with a Mind Clearing. The process lasts about an hour and most clients feel so much better when the session is over. They say that they are "relaxed," "feel better," "stress is down," "feel calm," "pain is gone," "feel peaceful" and so on. This is what makes this work so rewarding~ to know you are serving someone with a holistic modality and that it benefits them in so many ways.

Receive Healing Touch!

Well, it's been over a month since I lasted blogged. I've been preoccupied with physical therapy. Yes, the MRI showed a slight "wearing away" of the right miniscus. I think that's a nice way of saying it's getting old. But at least there are things I can do to get it back in shape. That entails doing physical therapy everyday either at the PT office or at home. I have a regimen that I follow such as lifting leg weights, stretching and using a stretchy band. It's been working really well. My leg is getting stronger and my knee pain has diminished over time. I also give myself regular Healing Touch such as the Chakra Connection and Pain Drain. I cannot tell you how much the energy therapy works. When I am receiving an hour session from a fellow energy healer the Healing is much more intense. What I mean by "intense" is this: the other healer will clear, balance, support and energize my entire energy system including all the Chakras and energy field. All I have to do as a receiver is be open and receptive to the healing. That is so easy to do. As a receiver of Healing Touch I feel completely safe and loved. I can see where Healing Touch and other energy modalities will be the best way we can support each other in our homes, schools, offices, gyms, nursing homes, hospitals and hospices. Did you know that Healing Touch is practiced in many of the major hospitals around Cincinnati? There's much research to support how it dramatically improves patient satisfaction and reduces time in the hospital. I think that's amazing. Hopefully, Healing Touch volunteers will increase in number and more people will be able to receive it when and if they are in the hospital. But why wait until then? Experience a Healing Touch session for yourself, feel the benefits and stay well! Check out my new website: www.healingtouchoncall.com I'm still working on it but it's still has lots of good information in the meantime.

Joint pain and Healing Touch

I've had some knee pain off and on for several months. I believe it started when I was lifting and dragging tree limbs from the front yard to the woods in back of my home after the hurricane of September 14, 2008. The back yard has an incline to it and when I threw the limbs into the woods I twisted my back and noticed that I had a slight knee pain. It only lasted a moment and so I didn't pay much attention to it. After heavy exercise the knee would be a little uncomfortable but nothing major.

In the spring of '09 I began to take Zumba classes. If you know anything about Zumba you know it's a fast paced, latin dance and very aerobic. There is some pivoting and jumping involved if you choose to do it. I chose to pivot and jump, unfortunately, and now know I did not have the correct shoes. Needless to say, I injured my knee more. So the pain increased. I have received Healing Touch many times for my knee and it helped relieve the pain totally. But thinking everything was OK I went back to my destructive dance routine. Again, the pain returned until it was keeping me up at night. I finally saw an orthopedic doctor and am awaiting the results of an MRI. I received Healing Touch this morning and am giving it a chance to really integrate into my system. That means very little exercise: walking and yoga are OK but nothing with a high impact such as Zumba or even weight lifting. This is a new lesson to me: if the body hurts when doing an exercise regime then it's time to evaluate. I will no longer continue on thinking "no pain, no gain." That does NOT work for me. I've learned to honor my body and do exercise that will help maintain health and wellbeing, not break it down.

Another lesson is the fact that Healing Touch does NOT take the place of traditional medicine. I've been to the orthopedist and will co-create a doable recovery plan for myself. I will listen to his expertise in this field and use Healing Touch as a good complementary modality. Besides, Healing Touch just makes all systems work better and I feel soooo good. When I receive Healing Touch all systems are go!

Thanks for reading, dear reader!

Healing Touch and Back Pain

Providing Healing Touch to clients with mild to severe back pain requires the practitioner to be very gentle and intentional. As a practitioner I always ask God or the Universal Energy Source for the highest good of the person I am about to work on as well as my own highest good. Generally speaking, if the person is able to lie on their back a Chakra Connection is a good technique to begin with after the initial assessment of the energy field. Then depending on how mild or severe the back pain the practitioner can have the person lie on their side or on their stomach. The back is then assessed using the hands or a pendulum.

Let's say for sake of an example the client has pain in the central part of the back and the practitioner's assessment shows the congestion is indeed there. Starting with placing one hand on the top part of the spinal column and the other at the base near the lower back, energy is sent between the hands balancing the flow. As a back client myself I can say that this feels very good as the warmth from the practitioners hands opens up the spinal flow. From there vertebral spirals on both sides of the spinal column release any energy congestion that may have accumulated. Then, if necessary, a technique called the "Hopi" is provided adding additional healing.

Bending the wrong way, or lifting heavy items can place stress on the back. Many folks love to have their back "worked on" including myself. Healing Touch may help to keep the back in good condition. It works well with traditional western medicine. For those times in between doctor visits or Healing Touch may be the exact modality that helps keep the body, mind and spirit well!

Healing Touch and General Weakness

When another practitioner and I were providing Healing Touch to a Hospice patient, we noted that she was very weak. In fact,
when we asked if she'd like energy work that day she could barely speak and had little energy. I noticed this when she coughed and brought her hand up to her mouth. She could just about lift her arm. The other practitioner and I grounded and centered ourselves. We then dedicated this work we were about to do to the patient's (and ourselves) highest good whatever that may be.

We began with a technique called, "Hands Still." For this Hospice patient we began by lightly placing our hands on her ankles and knees. Because we are facilitators of the energy from the Universal Energy Source (God), sometimes we can feel the energy in our hands making it's way to the client. During this session I did not consciously feel the energy but I knew it was flowing when I had visible evidence of it. The client's legs began shaking vigorously. This went on and on for about five minutes. She wasn't in any distress because if she had been we would have stopped. Indeed, she seemed to be pulling energy into her body and she needed a lot of it! I had to consciously ground and reground myself as the energy was being sent. We moved up to her knees and hips and discontinued the energy. When we stopped the Healing Touch, the patient was then able to speak and thanked us.

I haven't seen the patient since that day. Many times Healing Touch will break through any congestion or energy blockages a person may have giving them the opportunity to heal or, in the case of some Hospice patients to peacefully pass on.

Healing Touch and Tinnitis

My husband has tinnitis which, according to him, is a fullness or ringing in the ear. In his case it's his left ear. Tinnitis can be serious as it may cause an imbalance in the equilibrium and lead to lightheadedness, dizziness or even fainting. One night he wasn't feeling well and when I asked him what the problem was he said he was, "wiped out" and that his ear was really full and achy. The phrase "wiped out" was interesting energy language and I couldn't wait to see what all was happening with his energy field. I told him he it would be a good idea to make time for energy work. In the past he would say, "later" or "not now." This time he agreed to give himself the time. He got on the table and I assessed his energy field. By placing my hands on his ankles I slowly attuned to his energy. I connected with the angels. I determined that his field was NOT on his body but off to the right. No wonder he said he was "wiped out." His energy field was literally wiped off of his body! So I mentally invited it to come back saying that it was needed for his vitality and his health. It has an intelligence and will respond to thought. The next time I assessed the field it was back on and centered from head to toe, right to left and top to bottom. Having your energy field centered around you is very important for wellness and health. IF it is not centered you can have a whole host of uncomfortable symptoms like having this wiped out feeling. A practitioner of energy medicine can assess the field and work to bring it back to balance not only through invitation but also by providing several techniques learned in the Healing Touch Program. In my husband's case I used Chelation of the first 4 bodies, a Level 3 technique, a brain balance (from energy expert Sue Hovland), 5th level techniques to balance and drain the extra fluid in his ear, and Mind Clearing. (Doncha just love that title, Mind Clearing?). Problems, worries just melt away. I then provided 6th and 7th level techniques to repair the energy field and flood it with healing light.

When he opened his eyes I asked him how he felt and he said, "good because I've been lying down!" I was glad for that but the real reward came the next day when I again asked him he felt. He gave me the thumbs up sign ~ a man of few words. He had slept well and his ear felt normal. Another point I want to make here is that Healing Touch works over time. Some folks feel good results right away while others take more time to feel the results of it. If you have tinnitis Healing Touch may help!

Healing Touch and Poison Ivy

Do you enjoy gardening? If you do sometimes you may run across an inhospitable plant known for it's nasty effect: poison ivy. Just brushing it lightly can produce that infamous red rash with constant itching. It happened to me when walking through my lovely garden. Soooooo I used a Healing Touch technique called Lasering along with Hands in Motion. I put my thumb, index and third finger together and imagined a laser light coming directly from these fingers. I then held my hand over the rash and moved the laser light back and forth over it for about 2 minutes. Then I used my hand to brush away any congested energy over the site. I did this for another 2 minutes. I have to say that the itching was greatly reduced and I did not need any lotions or medications.

Whenever the itching would start up again I proceed the same way often lasering and using Hands in Motion several times a day. Within 4 days the rash was completely gone!

Summer Solstice in the Land of the Midnight Sun

Last month I was blessed to be in Denali National Park, Alaska for the summer solstice. Now Alaska has about 20 hours of daylight during the summer so to be there during the summer AND during the solstice felt sacred and mystical for me. I didn't plan to be there during the solstice, it just worked out that way. But if you've traveled to Alaska you'll know that it's a land of indigenous people who protect their native culture with each generation. They fish and hunt off the land and in order to do that the land must be honored and protected from most development. Indeed while there are many towns that cater to big cruise ships there are many small working villages whose main form of income is fishing. Alaska must be kept clean in order to support the people who fish and hunt for their very subsistence. To be a part of the Alaskan mountain, environment, the forests, rivers, bays and oceans is like walking back in time when the people just took what they needed from the earth with care and by doing so, honored the earth as the living vessel it is. While grounding into the earth and sky I often meditated on the sacredness of this land.

While in a Sitka totem park a raven flew overhead while I was viewing a totem that honored the cremated remains of a significant tribal member. Was the raven there guarding the totem? I think so. . .at least that's what I intuited. When wildlife is around it's sending a message of sorts. If you've read part of the book " Animal Speak," you'll get the sense of what I mean. This raven was definitely standing guard over this special place.

I often wonder what the spiritual significance of all the extra light means for those states near the Artic Circle. Certainly, people can grow huge vegetables and huge beautiful flowers but there is something to say for this stream of light where the sun never sets. I haven't figured it out yet but enjoy reflecting on it.

Healing Touch in Alaska

I had the great pleasure of traveling to Alaska recently. I don't think there's anything as wonderful as seeing wildlife in their natural habitat and Alaska certainly has plenty of wilderness areas where one can view wildlife acting naturally. One of my very special moments was standing on the bow of the ship early in the morning watching humpback whales breech. There were no sounds to detract from the sound of the whales surfacing, taking a breath and plunging into the depths for food. Seeing this on a PBS special is one thing but when you are right there with the whales, watching and waiting, it's a unique experience.

One of our exploration leaders remarked that whales "breathe consciously." The moment they are on top of the water you can hear them blowing out and taking a breath. They use that breath to dive deep, feed and often stay down for up to ten minutes. In reflecting on this I wondered how often I breath consciously. I do it often when swimming . . .knowing that when my right arm goes up to pull my body further in the water I take a breath. If I don't breathe then, it throws my rhythm off completely. Since I swim for pleasure it's OK to mess around and learn how far I can go without that breath. But more importantly, I ask myself if I am breathing consciously at various times during the day. If I get hyperactive for one reason or another I know that to calm myself down I need to take a big deep breath into my abdomen and let it out very slowly. During a Tai Chi class the master teacher always started with proper breathing. That goes for yoga stretches too. But what has stayed with me from that Tai Chi class is a method of breathing that added another dimension to just taking deep breaths. . .

Although the master teacher didn't call it "contemplating your navel" his method reminded me of just that. When you bring the breath in and the abdomen expands, the extra dimension is consciously thinking of the abdomen contracting. So you have this expansion and contraction (in your mind) going on simultaneously. It's a relatively simple technique but oh so powerful. All other thoughts fall away and if they come back into your mind you just resume this "conscious breathing" once again. I've used this technique when I feel anxious or uncomfortable. For example, as soon as I get on an airplane and get settled in I will
begin this breathing technique. Instead of focusing on the chaos around me, I go inside myself. This not only quells the anxiety but changes the entire dynamic of flying. I don't focus on the bumps, the bells, chimes or constant engine sounds anymore. And although I may be uncomfortable for awhile if I am unable to stretch my legs or arms out the way I like to do so, I am in control of my thoughts, my emotions and my breathing.

I am so glad to learn that humpback whales and humans have something very unique in common.

Detox Ends!!

Hi Again,
Today is Day 21, the last day of our 21 day cleanse and I feel wonderful! I have had so much energy, fit into clothes that were once a memory and my mind feels so clear. I'm sure my hypothalamus is thanking me although my tummy is probably wondering where all the exotic : ) foods are coming from. Actually, the "exotic" foods are none other than. . .you guessed it... vegetables. . .some that I haven't had in awhile such as eggplant and cabbage (plain) and some of the regulars that I love: beets, celery, carrots, arugula, spinach, asparagus, lentils, onions, mushrooms and many more. Things that I've been warned to stay away from are: milk ( I do have an allergy to milk so no prob), wheat (that means bread, baby) and last but not least and certainly foods we all avoid (yeah right): simple sugars. The doc said we must read labels and make sure that we're not consuming foods with chemicals. That makes sense so I'm making sure to bring my reading glasses to the grocery with me. I've discovered two different types of pasta I really love: brown rice pasta and quinoa pasta (keen wah). And when I make pasta it's not a huge plateful like before. . .it's a side dish with vegetables as the main course. We do eat chicken and fish but in moderation.

What does this have to do with healing touch? Healing Touch is a heart centered therapy that manipulates the energy field around the body. It removes congestion from the field so that the body's natural healing mechanisms can work to heal it. So if I'm doing a good job providing Healing Touch to myself ( and others) should I not control what I'm putting into my body so that the food I eat works in harmony with Healing Touch? Of course!!! The better the food, the less inflamation will occurs in the body and the healthier they and I will be. Also just think how svelte those fat cells are now without the extra fat on them.
So I encourage all of you who are so motivated to do a yearly cleanse to go ahead and just do it! But make sure you have supervision from your doctor or a dietition who can offer you his or her wealth of expertise in nutrition. Find yourself a doctor who does a yearly cleanse so that they know what you're about to embark upon. I called the dietition several times and her help was invaluable. Go forward all pioneers!

A Healing Touch Poster Child

Hi Everybody!
This past week a friend contracted pneumonia! She had been stressed out over many family issues for many months. She thinks that she may have caught the virus when visiting the hospital with her dad. "Diane" and I had made plans to have a dinner gathering for several friends on Friday evening at my home. Well, she was ill all week and on an antibiotics. Apparently the drug didn't work well and she had another appointment with her doctor on Thursday. . .the day before the dinner party. They gave her a new antibiotic to try. So on Friday morning she took one pill. At 3:00 I called to see how she was doing and ask if she'd like healing touch. I told her that it might help her turn the corner on the virus. Diane told me that she was too sick to come out of her house. . .that she was under the covers and just wanted to rest. So I told her that I'd do long distance healing touch and all she had to do was rest where she was and receive it. This was OK with her.

So I went to the room in my home where I do healing touch and imagine her lying on the healing touch table (like a massage table). I provided several techniques and the session lasted about 30-40 minutes.

What to do about the dinner party? I decided to have it anyway because I had all the food prepared and didn't want to cancel. If she and her husband came over that would be great. If not, there would just be 4 of us.

At about 5:00 Diane called me to ask if I had done the healing touch session for her. I said, "yes, I did." "Well, I feel incredible! I am so much better!" She had even taken her son out for some dinner and was returning home to get ready to come over for our dinner. Diane came over a bit later and looked fantastic! She said, "yes, I'm the Healing Touch poster child." She was even carrying some wine over to partake in! The evening turned out to be so much fun! We had a wonderful dinner and sat around the fire telling stories.

Giving and Getting healing Touch

"When you give Healing Touch, you get Healing Touch," as the wise saying goes. Last Monday night I provided Healing Touch to two different individuals. I felt wonderful afterwards and slept really well. The next day my husband and I were to begin a 21 day dietary cleanse that was recommended to us by our doctors. They said that with all of the toxins in the environment as well as the preservatives in food we eat it is wise to do a cleanse once a year. Since I had never done a cleanse like this in my 50+ years on the planet I decided that it would be a good idea. Besides, I was having symptoms of bloating after eating, weight gain and general malaise. The office dietition gave a lecture on the types of foods one could eat for the 1st seven days: sauteed or roasted veggies, a protein shake twice a day, fruit, fruit juice, rice, beans and lentils. Additionally, supplements needed to be taken that included fiber. The dietition warned everyone in the audience that we might expect some unpleasant symptoms during the first 4-5 days such as headaches, aches or pains in the body, sweating, and low energy among others. So although I knew that this cleanse was good for my health I truly was not looking forward to it. Thank goodness, my husband also went on the cleanse diet as well. Making the shakes and eating the recommended food was much better with a buddy.

Anyway, how did Healing Touch factor into this cleanse? Well, on Day 1 I felt fine. I had loads of energy and no aches or pains. I attributed that to the Healing Touch I gave the night before. My husband on the other hand, broke out in a cold sweat and had a big headache. On Wednesday( Day 2), I have to admit that I didn't feel well. I had shoulder pain which then developed into a headache. I received Healing Touch from my friends and rested. Thursday (Day 3)I felt great. . . so much so that I took an hour yoga class and then later took my bike out for a nice 12 mile spin. Gregg, my husband, still did not feel well. He finally agreed to allow me to provide Healing Touch for him. Today is Friday (Day 4) and I have to say I feel great! And I've lost 2 pounds! Woopie. Gregg says he's feeling better than he had but still doesn't have his normal amount of energy. Sooooo this weekend I'll be giving him more healing touch which, by the way, works over time. The cumulative effect of Healing Touch over a period of several days is strong. I will get back to all of you after the weekend to let you know how we're doing on this interesting cleansing journey.

Hospice experiences

The other day at Hospice I met a wonderful woman. "Anne" was surrounded by her daughter and granddaughter and a family pet: a cute white poodle. When Dan and I entered the room we introduced ourselves and told her about Healing Touch and asked if she would like us to provide her with Healing Touch. She agreed and said, "yes, I need healing." She was very sweet holding on to my hand and relaxing almost immediately. Dan held her other hand and we stayed like that with "Hands Still" for about 10 minutes. She began to fall asleep. Her daughter turned the television volume down and the energy in the room became very still and almost sacred. I could feel the energy coming from the heavens, moving through me to her. Then, a nurse came in to check a port in her upper chest. She left the room and came back with another nurse who injected the port with some kind of medication. . .I am not sure what it was but as soon as that happened the energy shifted. I did not feel the movement of energy and had to use my mind and my intention to remain grounded. I began to feel woozy, lightheaded and began to sweat. This has happened before when I entered the energy field of a person receiving strong medicine. The more experienced practitioners than I told me to ground myself into the earth's energy and mentally pull down the energy from God. I did this but hadn't been prepared for the shift in energy after the patient had received her meds. Dan also noticed the energy block and was able to get it flowing again. I on the other hand had to leave the room. The dizziness was too much and I didn't want to faint. So I left and got something to drink and some fresh air. As Dan and I discussed the shifts that had occurred we reinforced the idea that one always has to reground them selves before going into each room. As he said, "you never know what God is going to throw at you." I couldn't agree more!

Healing Touch Presentations Class

Ever since I coordinated a Healing Touch Presentations Class in Cincinnati I have been preparing myself mentally, emotionally to give presentations to groups. . .various types of groups: church communities, assisted living facilities, community groups and so forth. My mental and emotional preparations may take the form of affirmations. Affirmations such as: "I believe I am always divinely guided. I believe I will take the right turn of the road. I believe God will make a way for me where there is no way," support me. That is one affirmation I use many times over the day. I also like these: " I am true to myself," "I am free," and "I am in optimum health." I also prepare physically by exercising daily. That can mean 30 minutes of yoga followed by a walk in the park or biking. Or I may attend a Zumba class at the health facility where I am a member. Or it may mean several hours of cleaning my home (this can be pleasant knowing that I am creating a living environment that is pleasant, clean and inviting but I must remember to stop before exhaustion!). In other words there are various ways in which I take care of myself physically. Spiritually I connect with God many times over the day. There may be certain prayers such as the Lord's Prayer that I say but it also can mean having a conversation with God and waiting for some kind of response. This response takes the form of an inner knowing, a feeling of peace within myself, and being centered in knowing that my desire to serve is being met. All of this preparation also holds true for Healing Touch sessions I have for clients although there is more preparation when I am actually physically present with the client.

Back to the topic of Presentation of Healing Touch. It's a period of time, usually an hour, where I am educating and giving information on the changing state of health care, the advantages and things lacking in our present state of health care, and how healing touch, as a complementary modality, can be used to enhance our present state of heal care. The power point program also discusses research into healing touch and the many scientific studies on it's significance in health care. I also tell about amazing experiences I have with healing touch and the discussions that follow are quite animated especially if the participants have had some experience of energy work themselves. So, my point in this blog is to state how exciting this part of my "job" is and how much I love getting the word out that energy work (quantum touch, quantum science) can help alleviate pain, assist healing pre and post surgery, relax and rejuvenate and promote wellness.

Receiving Healing Touch

Last Wednesday at our regular 2 hour volunteer stint at Hospice of Cincinnati the other 3 practitioners provided me with Healing Touch. It was great! I had had myafacial work done the day before and my muscles were a bit fatigued. That's a nice way of saying they hurt like crazy! In fact, my left hip has been painful off and on since last September when I injured it moving tree limbs that had fallen in the yard. Perhaps you remember it too...the day of the Cincinnati "hurricane." So I had some myafacial work and was really sore. My 3 friends, the Healing Touch Practitioners, suggested I receive some energy and hopefully release that trauma I was still feeling in my hip. While it felt great to lie down and relax there were times when the energy was congested and about to be released. That was uncomfortable. That sometimes happens when it's moving and releasing. By the time they were done and confirmed that my energy field was clear and smooth I felt so much better. In fact, I had so much energy later on that I went biking on the trail near me. I find that pretty amazing. I didn't need Motrin or Tylenol to get rid of that pain. . .just some friends who had been trained in how to move and manipulate my energy field.

Healing Touch when sick

My husband had a horrible cold virus. He had stuffed sinuses, congested nose, sneezing and had zero energy. He hadn't slept in several nights and was just miserable. I finally said, "Let's try some healing touch." So I provided Hands in Motion to break up any congestion that was in his energy field for about 20 minutes. That is the only technique I used and then I let him rest. He went to bed that night and told me the next day that, "it must've worked because I had the first all night sleep I've had in a couple of days." Why I didn't do Healing Touch earlier in his illness, I don't know. Now, I'm providing him with Healing Touch on a regular basis so he doesn't get to that point of being so sick that he's miserable. : )

Healing Touch for animals

Last week my sheltie had his teeth cleaned. In order to do this he had to have anesthesia. I was concerned because he has
always been healthy and hasn't ever needed anesthesia. So the day gets here and I take my dog to the vet. I arrive at 8:00 am. They let me know he's in good hands and will call when the cleaning is complete. The vet assistant also tells me I can pick up my dog at about 5:00 pm. So with their assurance that he is in good hands I leave my dog and go about my day. The vet calls me around 10:00 to let me know the dog is fine and we discuss the future care of his teeth. At 5:00 my husband picks up my pet and brings him home. He is happy to be with us again and "out of jail," as we like to joke.

I get him settled and start to assess his energy field. I feel pins and needles as well as density in the field. So I began a Healing Touch technique called, "Hands in Motion," to break up the congestion which is causing the pins and needles. Now during this time he thinks I'm playing with him. "I'd love to play with you," I tell him, "but not now." Well, he continues to push his paws against my leg and rolls over onto his back!. Laughing I continue on. I do the Hands in Motion for about 5 minutes with him moving and trying to engage me in play. I mean if you could just see his big brown eyes staring at me you'd want to just hug him like I do! But I knew he needed more work so I rolled him over again and this time he actually stayed on his tummy. I then
began to balance and connect his field with the Chakra Connection. Dogs are similar to humans in regard to where I'm positioning my hands. Typically when I work on a human they are lying on their back for a Chakra Connection. But I use my intention and my hands to effect the change in his field. When I am done assess his field. It feels smooth and clear which will keep him in good health. Flowing energy keeps a dog as well as a person healthy. "Now we can play!" I give him a big hug and tell him how much I love him. By this time he is ready for a game of catch ; )

Healing Touch for the Dying

Last Wednesday I was at Hospice of Cincinnati volunteering with some other Healing Touch Practitioners or Apprentices. Two of us serviced two out of the 4 wings of the facility. Our normal procedure is to get a patient list from the nurses and check with them to find out who, if any, would benefit from Healing Touch. Many times the nurses will recommend several patients for a variety of reasons. The last two patients for whom we provided Healing Touch were in the last stages of dying. Patient A had just been given a little medication to help her relax as the nurse told us she was somewhat restless. We went quietly into her room. This time in the dying process to me will always be a sacred time. When you think that the person in front of you will
soon "shuffle off this mortal coil," as Shakespeare once said and be in spirit form, you might feel somewhat envious as I did. Make no mistake that I love my life but there's something about that next step that, in some ways, I long for. As the Bible says, "there will be no more tears and no more fears." When I reflect upon that statement I know in the core of my being that there
is a great future for all of us. I think of heaven as a place that is beautiful beyond description, where learning continues and the soul really takes shape. When providing Healing Touch to someone such as this Hospice patient lying here, I think of all these things. I also think of the life she may have led, her family that is coming to say goodbye and all that her life may have been.

Patient B was also actively dying. As I've seen often the breathing changes and becomes very shallow and labored. If the person coughs I can hear the congestion in the chest. I know this person does not have long in this life and I want to be as respectful and kind as possible. I believe Healing Touch is a way to let the terminally ill feel the human touch that comforts them. I thank God for this time with this person, I bless and pray for him or her. I think of my own time of dying and I sincerely hope that there will be people around me who respect me as a child of God and all that my life has been and will be in heaven! We all must go through our passion and death but we all will be resurrected!

Healing Touch Presentations Class

This past Saturday, February 7th, I coordinated the Healing Touch Presentations Class at the Blue Ash Hospice Community Room in Cincinnati. We brought in Lauri Pointer from the Healing Touch Headquarters in Arvada, CO. She did an excellent job of delivering all the ideas, research and methods in which to present Healing Touch to groups and individuals in and around this wonderful city. Many of us purchased the power point presentation and video, "Introduction to Healing Touch," to use in our talks. The class was very experiential but Lauri also gave us the research data which supports the benefits of Healing Touch. Personally I appreciate the research but I really love the fact that Healing Touch works! I've seen it again and again as I've written in this blog. It helps with pain management, stress reduction, relaxation, accelerates healing after surgery among other benefits. The founder of Healing Touch, Janet Mentgen, had a dream to have a "healer" in every home. Anyone can learn how to do healing touch. It's like learning a new skill and takes practice but it is well worth the effort. With the current economic and health insurance crisis Janet's dream brings home the fact that we as a country can help ourselves and not lean so much on pharmaceuticals. Yes, we need our emergency rooms, our ICU's and our surgical units. But it has been stated that the hospital of the future will not have room for the sick. Why not start now with wellness by learning this wonderful complementary modality? Or seek out a Healing Touch practitioner in your area? For information go to www.healingtouchprogram.com.

Pain Reduction

1/22/09
One of my clients has had shoulder pain for years. She's a very active woman who enjoys gardening, horse back riding and walking. She has had numerous broken bones and injuries over the years. "Donna" had tried many modalities and was willing to try Healing Touch in an attempt to get rid of the nagging pain in her left shoulder. Several days after her first sesssion she realized that she did not have pain in her shoulder! She was elated! She's been returning for regular sessions and has told me that the pain hasn't returned since Healing Touch. I've suggested that she receive a session once every three weeks to keep ahead of any pain that might be forming from her active lifestyle. She's agreed to do so but also is telling many of her friends about the benefits of Healing Touch.
